STATEMENT ON PLANT VOGTLE CONSTRUCTION BY NUCLEAR MATTERS

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today’s announcement that Georgia Power will continue its construction of Vogtle 3 and 4 represents a significant step forward in reaffirming the long-term importance of nuclear energy in the United States. Nuclear energy remains a key contributor to a diverse electric grid, providing clean, carbon-free energy that is both reliable, safe and consistently available. Consumers benefit from these critical attributes. In addition, the continuation of construction at Vogtle is good news not only for the people of Georgia, but throughout the United States, representing thousands of jobs and millions in economic investment.
