Preserve Nuclear Production Tax Credits to Advance Our Nuclear-Powered Future!

The future of nuclear power and America’s global energy leadership is at stake, and we need your help.

In 2022, Congress passed pro-nuclear tax incentives to prevent premature closure of vital nuclear power plants – the source of nearly half of our nation’s clean energy generation and nearly a quarter of all electricity generated in the U.S. In addition to those incentives, Congress also authorized two additional energy investment incentives to bolster the deployment of new clean energy technologies like nuclear power.

The passage of these pro-nuclear decisions marked a historic step toward bolstering our national security, increasing investments in new nuclear and lowering costs for consumers benefitting from a strong and efficiently operated domestic fleet.

Right now, legislators in Congress are considering using nuclear energy incentives for unrelated tax provisions in the upcoming reconciliation and budgeting bill instead of their intended use – to protect and preserve existing nuclear and advance new nuclear power. We cannot let nuclear tax credits be used for something other than keeping existing nuclear operating and bringing new nuclear generation online, thereby strengthening our grid and securing the U.S.’s global leadership in nuclear technology.

New nuclear energy projects and plants are the backbone of economic growth in the communities they power. They provide reliable, clean energy that keeps the lights on for families and businesses, helping meet the demand for rising electricity demands while bolstering our nation's energy dominance and lowering power bills across the country.

We need your help securing the position of nuclear power in the United States. Click here to send a letter to your legislators and remind them why reversing their decision could stall nuclear energy investment – keeping us from expanding America’s clean energy capacity and remaining a global leader in energy innovation. Your advocacy is critical to the nuclear industry, the roughly 250,000 jobs it supports and the fate of our reliable, clean energy future, so take action now!
