Nuclear Matters applauds the sponsors of HB11 for introducing crucial, bipartisan legislation that would include nuclear power in the state’s Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards, protecting Pennsylvania’s clean energy future for decades to come. Pennsylvania’s nuclear energy facilities support more than 16,000 jobs and provide 93 percent of the Commonwealth’s carbon-free energy, in addition to contributing more than $69 million in annual tax revenues that help pay for schools, roads and first responder services. We commend the legislature’s Nuclear Energy Caucus for their work leading up this legislation, and strongly encourage the rest of the General Assembly to support Pennsylvania’s single largest source of energy generation – clean, reliable nuclear power.
